🗺️ Coming Soon: The No-BS Guide to Da Nang

Cut through the noise. My personal neighborhood picks, housing tips, food apps, cost breakdowns, and what I wish I knew before moving

About Us: Otis, Arch & Me

Welcome to Otis & Arch, where two scruffy rescue dogs and one brutally honest human show you exactly what it’s like to move across the world — dogs, chaos, and all. I’m not an influencer. I don’t sell fairy tales. I left the U.S. because I wanted peace, not perfection. And now we live in Da Nang, Vietnam — figuring it out one step (and scooter ride) at a time.

Otis (aka Goats) is my sensitive, old wise soul with no tolerance for bullshit. Archard (aka Arch) is the happy-go-lucky little guy whose motto is “Always forward, never back.” Together, they’ve crossed oceans, dodged scooters, and adapted to life in a place where people still wave at strangers.

Get the real info on visas, housing, dog travel, living costs, and what it’s really like to move abroad with pets. Otisandarch.com is your go-to source for surviving (and thriving) in Vietnam — without selling your soul or sanity.

🐾 Things I Wish I Knew Before Moving

1. Is it really that affordable to live in Da Nang?

Short answer: Yes — if you’re smart.

- Street food: $1.50. Ridiculous.

- Rent: $400–$600 for something livable.

- Comfort zone: $700–$1,200/month gets you cafés, massages, AC, Grab rides, and a beach life.

- Ballin’? Over $2K and you’re doing the digital nomad deluxe with rooftop pools and daily deliveries.

💡 Reality check: If you’ve got dogs or taste, expect to pay a little more — but it still goes way further than back home.

✈️ 3. Do I need a visa before I arrive?

Depends on your passport.
Some countries (like the UK, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea) get 15–45 days visa-free. Everyone else? You’ll need a Vietnam e-visa before flying in.

E-Visa: Easy to get online. Choose 30 or 90 days. Costs $25–$50.
Visa on arrival: Not really a thing anymore unless you’ve pre-arranged paperwork.

💡 Tip: Don’t wing it. Always check official visa rules before booking your flight.

🐶 2. Can I really bring my dog to Vietnam — in The CockPit?

Hell yes, you can. Otis and Arch rode international, in the cockpit — okay, not literally next to the pilot, but in-cabin, no cargo hold nightmare.

We flew EVA Air, and it was smooth (besides Otis judging the snack options). But the catch? The rules are strict: rabies shots, microchip, USDA papers — and the vet red tape is real. Airlines won’t all let your pup ride up front, so picking the right one matters.

We put everything we learned in a $14.95 guide — from vet certs to airline hacks and how to avoid cargo at all costs. Want to ride The CockPit like a pro? Grab the guide. Your dog will thank you.
